Keeping The Battery Topped Up At The Airport?

I should be getting a new MY14 Auris Excel next week, so I have been reading every thing that I can from here, along with Priuschat and including the down loaded manual.

Having retired, both my wife and myself plan to do lots of travelling, both here in the UK and Europe. I am so excited.

Each winter, we fly away to India for a month and park at the airport, we have never had any problems with starting our Aygo when we return. The car has always started first turn of the key.

After reading so much regarding the small 12v Battery on the Auris along with the discharge rates whilst standing, will the Battery be dead when we get back? and do I need to use some sort of Solar panel trickle charger or are they just a gimmick.

What are the options? I don't really relish the thought of wrecking the 12v Battery just because the car has stood for a month at the airport.

I personally remove the minus terminal when I keep car parked in the garage for prolonged time, sometimes for more than a couple of months. I loose only radio settings and trip computer informations.

Thanks Tavy, will disconnecting the 12v Battery for 4 weeks have any effect on the main drive Battery?
