This is the way I do it;

un clip maf sensor

remove the pipe that goes from airbox to turbo (cover turbo opening so nothing falls in- plastic carrier bag works well for me)

unclip 4 clips around airbox and remove top part of airbox- remove air filter.

There is no need to remove engine cover.

unplug the two plugs connected to the fuel filter assembly/housing.

remove the two inlet outlet fuel lines, make sure you know which one goes where. maybe marking one of them will help putting them back where they were.

then remove two 12mm bolts holding the assembly.

pull out straight as if its on angle you will get diesel spillage.

have a bowl or bucket to drain diesel, you will see a plug under assembly to drain the diesel unscrew and let diesel drain.

then remove the bottom part of assembly.

then remove actual fuel filter, screw new one in by hand- use the new o rings.

some people fill the filter up with diesel/injector cleaner- dont forget to screw the bottom bit first before you do this.

put the assembly back in by the bolts- put the fuel lines back, plug two plugs in, now pump the primer on top of assembly until it goes hard.

put all pipes and air filter box back on and plug the maf sensor in.

now start engine :D

A vice or something to hold the assembly whilst you remove the bottom and fuel filter is going to make it easier.
