Has anyone had to replace a core plug on a early rav 4? My mate has a early Rav 96/97 I think which has done over 200,000 now and has a water leak at back of engine block , bulkhead side which is hard to find, not leaking badly but he needs to top up water now and again. He was thinking he may have a leaking core plug but been told engine out job to do and cost would out way value of Rav. It's never let him down and don't want to scrap it, any thing else down back of block which could leak ?

Could it be on the heater pipes where they go to the bulkhead? there are 2 rubber unions on these pipes which can leak and drip down the back of the engine.
