Hoping To Get A 4

Hi everyone, my present set of wheels is a Renault (2002) Scenic which I use to tow a lightweight Lunar caravan. Everything is matched ok but some of the wet, sloping, grassy sites can be a bit of a challenge with a 4x2 vehicle. I'm not looking at off roading stuff, although due to my local council having the idea in winter that my village can manage about three days without grit, I would find 4x4 a bit handy. I want to spend about 7000 , Ive got the idea that I should avoid a diesel model because since retirement I only do short journeys (2 miles) into town about twice a week (and the odd caravan trip) which seems to be some sort of problem with particulate filters. I've seen a RAV4 VVt. 150bhpx74. 4x4 5door with fitted tow bar and electrics 48000m on the clock for £7000. Problem is I don't know much about the RAV 4 so I am hoping for some tips and advice on any years to avoid or any specific problems to look out for before I start going to dealers. Maybe I've totally got the wrong idea about particulate filters, hope someone can advise. Any comments or tips would be very much appreciated...... thanks guys.. Ian.
