Hi,

Not sure if my timing belt needs doing as the car has no history, but have been told that if it snaps, the 2L twin cam engine doesn't get damaged, so it's fine to just drive it regardless, and if it snaps, replace it then? Is this true?

Thanks,

Tim

Erm... nah.

If the car throws the cambelt at a bit of speed, that will result in pistons smacking valves and an expensive rebuild.Cheaper to get it vchanged tfor peace of mind.

if it's round about the 60K miles mark and you don't know if it's been changed or not... get it changed. Safer that way.

rich is kinad right. if ur in high gears/revs then they will get thrown and cause a bit of damage. but if ur not going too fast the engine should be ok as its a non-interference-engine.
