Petrol Prices

Just had an e-mail about a new campaign to slow the rise in petrol prices. On the surface it looks like a good idea.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think

that the cost of a litre is CHEAP at 77p -80p, we need to take aggressive

action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace not sellers. With

the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take

action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if

we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do

that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest

oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any

petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their

prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact,

we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's

really simple to do!! Now,don't wimp out on me at this point. keep reading

and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a; lot of people. If each of you send it to at

least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more

(300 x 10 = 3,000). and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth

generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If

those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then

30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further,

you guessed it. THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all you have to do is

send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would

all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within

one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted

within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much

potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes

sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER

THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE

Action: It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy

your petrol at Shell, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons (75p)Jet etc. i.e.

boycott BP and Esso.

Last night had to fill up with Optimax, travelled 14 miles there and back (nearest Shell garage) and paid 87.9p per litre for the priveledge  . Bloke on the next pump filled his gas converted Megane Scenic for £14

Then again, I know what I'd rather be driving :P

There was an Australian in the Sera group complaining about petrol prices last week. It worked out he was paying about 42p per litre.

Half the :censor: price of ours AND better weather.

Honestly.....some people don't know they are born. :D

even if we boycotted the stations badged as a sppecific brand it wouldnt make any difference as the major players supply the non-branded stores and supermarkets anyway....

Plus if it were to happen what happens when the chosen distributer runs out, back to the ''boycotted'' brands again, rock, hard place, rip off britain...

slighty off track but another example other than petrol....

I used to Ice Sakte at a reasonably high level, when I cam e back over here I wanted to take it up again, I got a quote for the saktes and blades I used to use abroad both of which are made over here....

UK Quote = @ £900

Same skates and blades shipped over night from Hong Kong = £475

Remembering the skates and blades were both made in the UK how come it was nearly 50% cheaper to have them importde from half way accross the worl when they were made in thgis country in the first place ??????

yeah but austrailaina dont get paid as much... the quality of living over there is low...

In regard to what that man is paying for petrol and for what hes probably getting paid - its about the same as our ratio

Cheers

Same reason British Cars are cheaper if you buy them abroad and bring them back here.

If you go to the nearest dealer to the Rover factory (say) and price a car......for a few thousand less you can buy the same car in Germany, drive it back and register it over here. AND you get a short holiday into the bargain.

Then you get the government trying to tell us that there is no advantage to it............EH???????

Have you noticed their latest PR (do nothing) stunt about tackling obesity in the UK?

Worthy cause....but it's being spearheaded by the two fattest b******s in the house of Commons.
