Rav 4 Problem

Hi everyone,

I am an owner of a 2006 RAV 4 T180. Owned since new and very pleased with the car and its versatility. Had a few major problems but Toyota has been very helpful even outside of warranty. Over the past few months I have been losing coolant and I am now told by the non franchised garage that looks after the car that its likely to be the head gasket - a costly repair.

I have looked at the web and it would appear that this a known problem to Toyota, a mismatch between head gasket and coolant.

Toyota have extended the warranty in this instance to 7 years or 120k miles.

Has anyone experience of this problem. Can anyone enlighten me.

Toyota have provided a goodwill warranty for 7 years/111,846 miles - see http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/132178-charliefarlies-guide-to-the-toyota-2ad-diesel-engine-and-its-issues/

However as your Rav is a 2006 model, it is now beyond the period of this goodwill.
