Aygo Semi Automatic Beeping On Accelaration Over 2000 Revs

Hi All

Was wondering if anyone could offer me some help :(

My 2005 Semi Auto Aygo (56,000) has developed a weird fault in the last couple of days. When I drive the car it seems to struggle between gears. If I accelearate i get a fast beeping noise and the car doesnt want to seem to find gear over 2000 revs, it just revs and wont actually accelarate. If I keep it at low revs I can just about drive the car.

This is the same when I try it in "E" and Manual Mode.

I was planning to chop the car in the next couple of weeks for a newer model, now I'm wondering if something is seriously wrong :(

My questions are this.

- Is there anything that can be adjusted to fix this problem short term.

- If not does anyone have any idea on what the problem may be and the cost of repair for this :(

Thank you so much in advance for any help you can give

If you're changing the car, I would just take a lower payment for the car and get rid, not worth bothering with as its nine years old. Has it got any engine warning lights on?

The MMT gearboxes are notoriously problematic; Might be something simple like the clutch plates need changing, or something more serious like the actuator has gone, or something in between like a seal has gone and the hydraulic fluid pressure isn't high enough.

Since you're planning to get rid of it anyway, I'd say just go along with that and save yourself the headache of trying to diagnose and fix the problem!

Clutch has "worn out".

Clever Aygo knows this & beeps to warn you.

There is a quick fix......Throw £700 - £800 at your local Toyota dealer.

They will fix it with a new clutch and some programming.

If you are planning on part-exchanging it......
Stop driving it NOW!

The problem will get worse very quickly. Part-exchange the car & mention the cluch is slipping.
They will reduce your part-ex value. HOPEFULLY by less than £700.

thought it might have been something to do with that. No point in getting a new clutch for an old car, you may as well part ex it with no clutch. Dealer may decide to just scrap the car rather than replace it with a new clutch.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the replies, i suppose it confirms my fears.

What I meant by quick fix was is there a way of adjusting a cable (ie I saw you can do this on a manual 107) just long enough for me to take it into a dealer chop it in for another car...

I've never actually taken a car into a dealer before to part ex it in so I'm not really sure what to expect (pathetic I know)

Well not much to it really, you go there, tell them what you want to buy off them, haggle over the cost and extras of the car, haggle over what they'll give you for the part-ex of the old car, decide on payment options etc.

yep I did that earlier this year with my Yaris when I bought my 2014 mk1 Aygo. I did a lot of homework beforehand looking at various trim levels etc.
