Hi all,a bit of advice please,I have a Auris Excel Hybrid pur new in August of this year.It has the factory fitted new tyre valves and I have the chance of getting a Toyota spare get you home wheel and tyre at a good price and never been used. The wheel in question came of a 2013 Auris Hybrid size 225/45/17 which is the same size as mine.Does anyone know if this wheel would be ok as it does not have the new tyre valve and would it cause some problem with the other tyre valves

I think each valve has its own sensor which just operates the warning light, just to let you know that one of the tyres has lost some pressure but does not tell you which one.

It would mean that your space saver would not turn on the warning light, should it lose some air.

Note that the spare wheel may not fit flush in the boot. When i look at my model 2013 auris, i believe the space is not deep enough and the wheel may be sitting proud of the boot floor.

The Toyota spare/space saving wheel that was purchased along with my new Auris is far to big (tyre width, not diameter) to fit in the space provided. The spare sits at an angle from front to back, which makes the the rear of the wheel about 70mm. too high. This has the effect of lifting the boot carpet, thus causing it to pivot at the sides like a see-saw, perhaps the designer of this designated area aught to rethink his future career. :)

Luckily the boot shelf, that allows a flat loading space, hides this faux pas by sitting on the raised lugs and covers up the wobbly hardboard stiffened boot carpet.

Thanks for the advice,I managed to get a spare wheel and tyre never been used only £40.I now have to get a jack and wheel brace,is it just the normal scissor type.

The manual, page 663, shows configurations for both a compact spare wheel and a full-size one; presumably in the latter case the tray beneath the boot floor is omitted

Thanks for that, I will look at the book today.

One of the selling points stated by the salesman was the duel level boot and the tiny "hiding place" to keep things below the flat level shelf and I was assured by both the salesman and the GM that it would fit and they both showed some surprise (fake or genuine, I am not sure) when in fact it did not!

I am not too sure that product knowledge is "up there", when it comes to selling a new car.

It is no real biggie for me, as when the flat load shelf is in situ, it is no longer a problem that shows.
