Hello,

I am from Holland, and drive a Toyota Aygo 2011.

I want to replace the original fuel gauge meter thats installed with an analog meter like this :

It is possible? I just want to know how to install/wire.

Thanks Alot,

Aftermarket fuel gauges usually come with their own 'universal' sender, or at least a recommended type to use with the gauge that will provide the right reading. I fitted a VDO one to my Diablo replica and it worked well, but then I had a rectangle box tank and the sender (a float type in a long tube) nearly went right to the bottom of the tank so the fuel reading was very linear from full to empty. The manufacturer of the tank had welded in the correct mounting plate for the VDO sender so bolting it all up was very easy. My concerns with the Aygo would be A: ability to bolt/affix an aftermarket sender to the original mounting plate at the top of the tank and B: the odd shape of the Aygo tank itself. It may not even be feasibly possible to fit the aftermarket sender in, even if you could affix it to the top of the tank somehow. Unless you can find someone who has done it, the only option would be to take out the original Aygo sender (which may even have a fuel pump attached to it - so theres another potential problem) and root around to see what space you have in the tank. Measure up whatever sender you may be using and see if the sums work out. In any event, I'm not convinced that an aftermarket gauge would be any more accurate than the original one given the odd shape of the Aygo tank, unless you can 'calibrate' the aftermarket gauge to take into account the non-linear reading you will get from the Aygo tank (cos its not a box shape).
