93 2.4Td Acceleration Issue

Hi new member here , I've recently purchased a toyota hilux surf and have a few issues with it, was wondering if anyone could figure out what it is because i can't work it out .

after about 30 minutes of driving if I'm accelerating either over 3000rpm or going up a hill (basically when there is a little more strain on the engine) the acceleration starts to die or cut out a little. this goes on for about 10 seconds and the the check engine light goes on . the car has plenty of coolant ,isn't over heating , oil pressure is a tad low but not a major . i was wondering if it could be the release bearing in the clutch.

cheers.

If the check engine light comes on, you should have a fault code stored. Getting that read (or reading it yourself) will help pinpoint the problem...without it we'd just be just stumbling around in the dark.

Take a look at this thread, see if it helps: http://www.yotatech.com/f116/check-engine-light-codes-obd1-91186/
