My Rav

Hi all,

Just to let you know that my 1998 RAV4 2L petrol, 3 door manual in gleaming Red paintwork has just passed it"s MOT.

It initially failed on just two points

1) Offside rear Suspension mounting corroded

2) Offside front brake hose excessively deterioated

Both failures were rectified and I now have my road legal RAV for at least another year.

So to celebrate I bought the old thing a new set of headlight bulbs.

Philips X-treme Vision H4 from Powerbulbs for £23.08 this price also includes a set of Osram W5W Sidelight bulbs. So when they are delivered I"ve just got to fit them.

I did contemplate selling the RAV to buy a more economical car but when I considered the cost of changing it to the Comfort, Safety, Good Looks of the RAV I decided to keep it. So I"ll just have to put up with the 20/25mpg for at least another year.

cheers

Well done on the MOT pass, if that's all it's cost you for the age of the car, it well worth keeping, other makes of cars would be in the breakers by now :)

Hi Conrod,

Couldn"t agree more. I was an avid Landrover Freelander owner (I"ve owned 4 Freelander TD4s) prior to buying the Rav, which I bought as a stop gap 12 months ago only intending to keep it for a month or two or until the right Landrover Mark 2 Freelander TD4 came along, But after driving the RAV and enjoying the experience we decided to keep it until the MOT ran out. But now, with a full MOT we"re going to save whatever money we would have used to buy a Freelander and just enjoy the cheap motoring which the RAV gives us.

Cheers

Had a chap in a freelander offer to buy mine today for his wife, as she has a 3 door rav, wants a new car , but cant find anything better than a 4.2 rav.

And we only went in to buy a tv unit. He's going to have a very long wait

Hi again,

Well I"ve just fitted the Philips X Treme Vision headlight bulbs which were delivered this afternoon. I started to fit them from under the bonnet but in the end decided to undo the 4 bolts securing each Headlight unit and fit them that way, and boy was it easier.

Now all I need to do is to take the car out for a quick spin to see how good they are.

Will keep you informed.

Cheers
