Help - A Little Concerned About My Car

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi there

I have had my aygo now for 3 years after buying it with 12k on the clock and earlier this year (april) I had a water pump fail on me tearing my alternator belt and have had it replaced. (happened around the 19k mark) I am a student and took my car around town today to pick up a mate from the station and while at the lights i heard the squeak that proceeded the failure last time :S. So got home and opened the bonnet to a red hot engine and was wondering how do i check if its seized (drove for about two miles) the pump was replaced with an aluminium one. I need my car to go home later this week and am rather concerned being a relatively new driver and over two hours from actual assistance from family as moneys tight.

Cheers

So,if it's still running then it's not seized,if you mean is the water pump seized, then you need to take the drive belt off then spin the water pump by hand and feel if it's rough or smooth, also check for play by grabbing the pulley at 12 and 6 o'clock position and try and move it back and forth, let us know the outcome
