Auris: Problem With Water In Stop Lights After Car Washing

Regards to all,

Did anyone had a similar problem as in the photo?

post-143909-0-80074200-1413830029_thumb.

Looks like it's bad contact between the blinking lights and the rest of the lamp during the washing under high pressure.

Is the lamp replacement is the only solution or is there any other option (removal and repair)?

Thank you all for your answers and help.

You can order new rear light gaskets (seals). See: http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/157769-tail-light-gasket/?hl=%2Brear+%2Blight+%2Bseals#entry1325200

Send Parts King a personal message, detailing your car (year, registration, etc) and what you want. For Parts King, go to the Community page, scroll down to Sponsor's Corner, and then Lindop Toyota.

I have had the same issue on the drivers side. It is a known issue with the tail lights. A new gasket will solve the issue.

Ok, thank you for the suggestions. I'll try with the purchase of new gasket on the local market.

I did not know about this problem on the tail lights.

Think as the gaskets age, they can let in water, and a high pressure wash may exacerbate the problem

This is the first time when I noticed the water after washing. During the rain all is normal, for now. Certainly the age of the vehicle affects the whole problem. In a few days I''II tray to defuse the whole lamp and see what it is.

Dow Corning 799 is a silcon sealant but is cured by moisture so no acetone smell and it kinder to the gasket. I repaired my lights a year ago and still water tight.

Andy.
