follow the pipe that comes from the airbox and it will lead you to the turbo.

if your engine never had a turbo it would flat as a fart.

Ok I'm really embarrassed now . Had my car a year and I like to think of myself as quite a car but. But the garage, salesman, manual and mot certificate . Nothing mentioned about a turbo now that I've actually looked and can see it clearly . Thanks for the help guys .

Yeah I know what that is, is that why it doesn't have a waste gate? Doesn't have a turbo whine ?

Well diesels generally don't need waste gates anyway since they can handle unlimited boost, but you're right - the variable turbo makes that even more redundant.

Not sure about the turbo whine, I think it's just the way the system is designed.

When I bought this Yaris, it had a very noticeable turbo sound, and I later discovered this was because some numpty had put the air filter on upside down and there was a gap!

Now that it's in properly, the turbo sound is virtually inaudible :(
