Auris With Engine Changed?

I'm going looking at a 2007 plate auris tomorrow,

Got 79000miles on the clock, ad said engine had been changed in 2012 with 64000miles.

What should i look out for?

Would the clutch have been changed at the same time?

Presumably it is a diesel Auris with either the 1AD or 2AD engine.Was the engine changed due to the head gasket/oil consumption issues and replaced under the 7 year/111,846 mile goodwill arrangement Toyota put in place?

A 2007 car will probably now be either outside or will shortly be outside, the goodwill period, so any further issue will be the owner's responsibility, unless covered by a warranty supplied by whoever you bought the car from.

Some owners will have had the clutch changed at the same time as the replacement engine - but this would have been at their cost. You could check with your Toyota dealer to see whether the service history has any info on this.

It's 2litre so 1AD.

Even after the engine change is there a change of it failing again?

I don't why it was changed, will asked tomorrow.

Would it be worth the hassle? Thinking the engine could cause trouble again?

If the engine was changed due to the head gasket/oil consumption issues, later replacements were 3/4 engines which were factory built, rather than dealer re-built - which reduced the possibility of further failure.

Engine was changed due to coolant loss. clutch and fly wheel were changed at the same time.

Car drives sweet, started first time from cold, it's doesn't feel like a diesel.

Have to find out how long the new engine is covered or what the story is.

I've just had my engine changed under the 7 year program. The new parts and any labour are covered for a year from the date the work was done.
