Hello,

Looking for a bit of advice on how to fix a problem i am having, the car wont start when its hot it is cranking but not starting if i start the car in the morning it will eventually start but if i drive to the shops and try start the car it will not start.

I have changed the Battery new egr valve and the alternator is taking a charge i just dont know what to do next i have had the car on the computer which is showing no faults and my mechanic isnt sure what the issue could be.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Hi Mac I had the same prob., it was the stater motor , start ok when cold but not when hot it stilled cranked the engine but not quite fast enough to start it is your car 2.0 d4d twin overhead cam high compression common rail injection diesel.because if it is your starter motor has to turn all of this at the right speed to start !.

Thank you both for replying that would be a dream if its just the starting motor i would be delighted i think i should change that next and report back to see if that is the problem its cost me a new Battery and alot of inconvenience of being late for work.

Hi Mac. Just an other thought , I read another post about 2 years ago about clutch ware affecting the starter motor ie., contaminating the starter with dust ect., are you running with the original clutch!

I am not a 100% sure the car is a ex uk company car when i bought it i have it maybe 4 years now its low mileage i have put on it less than 10,000 miles a year its at 110,000 now. If the starting motor is replaced can this be seen on the old one if the clutch is causing the problem.

Are good , mine went about that mileage .i am still on original clutch at 176k a lot of MW MILES. So don't worry about it not lasting mine has, and same Battery too.

if its the starting motor and it fixes the issue ill be delighted but when no one is a 100% sure and start changing parts and doesn't fix the issue and the cost keeps rising and the problem still persists it becomes alot more stressful. ill update when i get it done and again thanks all for your help i am convinced now its the starting motor ill update as soon as work is done
