Just to say Hi to all that are interested.

After sitting on the fence for 3 years and looking at all the available hybrid models available and ones that will be available soon I decided to go with the Toyota Auris Touring Sport HSD.

I picked up my shiny white Auris on Friday morning and within a few hours was loaded and winging my way to Wales for the weekend. The car is faultless but does take a bit of getting used to.

Returning home on Sunday the trip posted a 50 MPG for the round trip of 350 miles, loaded with 3 adults, 2 dogs and a full boot.

I know the listed MPG is circa 70 I am not that naïve to expect that in real terms. I think for a brand new engine with a reasonably heavy load it did very well. I am hoping on a day to day basis in and out of mixed traffic I will get closer to 60 MPG but anything about 50 will be fine. My outgoing vehicle was a Audi Q3 2.0 TDI which was a great car but the tax implications were more than I wanted to carry forward.

About the only niggle I have is the reverse beeping and I shall ask the dealer to switch that off the first chance I get.

I am looking forward to many hours comfortable and economical driving.
