Yaris 1.4D4D 2007 Heavy Steering And Wont Start

Hi, I'm new to this forum and have had my Yaris 2007 (a/c) for almost 3 years its got 112k and never let me down till yesterday.

I know its got a sticky n/s/f brake calliper and the car drives a little jerky at time but I had this booked in on sat to get it sorted.

my problem is that I went on a site visit (30miles trip) and on the way home the headlights turned off and the dims stayed on and the same time the steering became heavy (it was still started at this time), I decided to park it and turn the engine off and re-start it, as it maybe was juts a hick up, as I tried to crank it up to my surprise the car wont start and it wont even crank over, its like the car is trying to start but it has that dead Battery start feel to it.. my headlights wont work, but dims do and all the electric inside the car are working.

your replies would be most appreciated.

I also did notice a very light burning smell whilst the heather were on full blast in the morning (its the same metal burning smell as the sticky brake calliper after I drive some times)

Kind Regards.

Sounds like either your alternator has failed and is no longer charging your Battery or your Battery is no longer taking a charge.

thanks for the reply Devon Aygo, i had it checked by the AA and it was the alternator, he managed to start it and when he used to ohm meter it wasn't showing charge whilst reving the car. its now booked in for sat for a new alt.. Will keep you posted on outcome.

Kind regards
