Hi,

Please can someone help me?

I have just had some re-spraying on my car done and when I picked it up and drove away I noticed that the two front (the ones in the headlight) indicators weren't coming on, the LCD display for the radio/temp is blank, the car wash wipe doesn't work properly (it washes but then the wipers don't move) although the normal wiping works except for the intermittent wiper motion! the audio controls on the steering wheel don't work either!

I have checked every single fuse by taking each one out and looking at it and they are all fine and unbroken. The engine management light doesn't show a problem so I am really stuck....

I have rung the garage that worked on my car and they have said they haven't unplugged anything to do their work and don't know why these things don't work....

Pleeeeaaaaase can anyone help me?

Kind regards, Paul

What did you have resprayed and did they outline how they were going to do t?

They may have had to remove panel and therefore upset wiring but not admitting it.

Or cold be a massive coincidence and somethings gone wrong.

Check all the earth wires first..There are several under the bonnet.. And in the lights at front and back.

So it is likely as repair work is involved, lights were removed and some wires not replaced...

As we cannot guess which, please detail which areas of the car were involved in repairs...

The repairs were a front bumper re-spray, small scratch on tailgate, small dent on NSR wheel arch and a rear bumper re-sray as well. The garage assure me that they never took any panels off at all to aid the work it was all done in situ on the car!

Had to go to my local Toyota about this and to be honest they were crap! I got charged £60 for finding out that both indicator lamps were out and they have replaced them but as to the rest of the issues they still don't really know even having the car for over 2 hours!!!

The intermittent wiper problem they say it could be the wiper motor not working on that action (but why does the other wiper actions work?)

The radio/clock and audio problems they think are to do with the LCD screen/facia panel that could have just broken down.

This all seems rather too much of a coincidence that 4/5 issues have come about just because the car has had some 'exterior' work done and it was parked up most of the time. Also I must say that they had drained the Battery as well when I came to collect it and had to use one of those jump start power pack thingys to start the car again....

I wonder why the Battery was drained when you went to collect.

Something dodgy going on.

You need a competent auto electrician.. At this distance, I have not a clue what is wrong.

I do think you are dealing with cowboys at the repair side...

You may be right Michael! I see you have the same car as me and was wondering have you got a Haynes manual for the Diesel Yaris as there doesn't seem to be one listed on the Haynes own website!! Plenty of Petrol manuals but no Diesel ones.....

If you have could you give me the catalogue number please?

Paul

As Cyker says.

If you do decide to pay money and buy information from the links given by Cyker , you need to be very organised, have plenty of time and set yourself up so you can download and save files without losing them or mislabelling them. There is a time limit: the more you pay etc.

I paid for one hour .. and got all the files I wanted...

There is no diesel Manual but the wiring ## for the d4d is identiical to the petrol for all but the engine components.. I have a Haynes manual and it's Ok for general electrics... as we have both a petrol and diesel, that simplifies matters a lot...

## plus the suspension and brakes etc...
