Which Petrol

I have been told that the Shell premium petrol would be best for my Yaris Icon 1.3. Is this correct or is too rich for the engine please??

There has been a fair bit of discussion on the forums about using premium as opposed to regular fuel - some people use premium due to the extra additives (cleaner engine?) and the impression their car runs better, rather than increased mpg, and some people see no benefit to using premium.

I have a 2012 1.33 Auris and use either BP Regular or Shell FuelSave. If doing a trip, I tend to use one of the premium fuels (Shell V-Power or BP Ultimate). Occasionally if our local Tesco has a campaign on giving money off fuel, I use the Tesco Momentum rather than the regular supermarket fuel, for the better additive package.

Very much down to personal choice.

Your engine doesn't need to use a premium fuel - regular is fine. If using regular I would suggest using one of the branded fuels (BP, Esso, Shell) rather than supermarket fuel.

Thank you very much for your response, just what I was looking for. I must say the Shell premium petrol does, for me anyway, make a big difference. My Yaris Icon 64 Reg gets off the mark extremely fast and on the straight performs really well, so much so that 70mph is a doddle and I can still accelerate to overtake whilst in 6th gear, something I found a lot slower when using Shell regular fuel.

I know it is a bit more expensive per litre, but for me I think its worth it and as long as it is not harming my engine, I will stick with it. As you said, its all down to personal choice but I do thank you for your advice and I will not worry about damaging my engine anymore.
