eh?

What's that all about?

I'm looking to buy some bits on eBay and they are listed as suitable for SCP9_, NSP9_, KSP9_, NCP9_, 'variants'

How do i find out if I have a SCP9_, NSP9_, KSP9_, NCP9_, etc.?

Thanks in anticipation

Think the P9 relates to the generation. Toyota's designation for the first generation was XP10, second generation XP90, and the third generation XP130.

Cheers FROSTYBALLS. I'm just familiarising myself with my new [to me] yaris. I pulled out the glovebox today to see if I could find fuses/relays and inspect the cabin pollen filter. Imagine my surprise' when i removed the cover from the pollen filter and found there wasn't one in there. Fortunately dust is the least of my worries in this weather but I thought I'd look into fitting one. Now the one in the link below looks a promising match but in one picture it seems to be a 'frame' - which would also be missing so I'm wondering if I buy the filter I will next be looking for the missing 'frame'....

Hope someone can advise - has the person that's chucked the filter chucked a 'frame too?

Some of the third party pollen filters have a surround to the pollen filter - like the one in your link.

However the OE filters don't - eg (and not sure whether this is right for your car - just an example for the image):

I replaced the pollen filter in my Auris back in the summer for a Toyota enhanced filter, and neither filter had any surround to it.

Our 58 plate has never had a pollen filter. It was second hand but only a few months old when we got it and I later found the filter was missing as well as the bulb in the boot light.

I guess they weren't fitted from new. I did fit a bulb but never bothered with the pollen filter yet.

The combinations you list are model numbers for a MK2 2005-2011 P9 Yaris:

SCP9# = 2SZFE 1.3 16v PETROL 4CYL

NSP9# = 1NRFE 1.33 16v PETROL 4CYL

KSP9# = 1KRFE 1.0 12v PETROL 3CYL

NLP9# = 1NDFTV 1.4 8v DIESEL 4CYL

ZSP9# = 2KRFE 1.8 16v PETROL 4CYL

MK1 1999-2005 P1 Yaris uses similar codes

NCP10 - 2NZFE 1.3 16v PETROL 4CYL

NCP13 = 1NZFE 1.5 16v PETROL 4CYL

NLP1# = 1NDFTV 1.4 8v DIESEL 4 CYL

SCP1# - 1SZFE 1.0 16v PETROL 4CYL

MK3 2011 P13 Yaris:

KSP13# = 1KRFE 1.0 12v PETROL 4CYL

NHP13# = 1NXFE 1.5 16v PETROL 4CYL HYBRID

NLP13# = 1NDFTV 1.4 8v DIESEL 4CYL

NSP13# = 1NRFE 1.33 16v PETROL 4CYL

Thanks - that explanation of the 'codes' makes matters much simpler

a for why the pollen filter is missing???

I certainly not likely to miss it in this weather but having seen some really mucky pollen filters in the past I think I'll pop one in for when there's some dust again - I'd rather that stuff is caught on a filter than ends p in my lungs - especially when a filter is less than a fiver

Mk1 & Mk3 Yaris only have a Pollen filter installed with aircon, for reasons unknown on Mk2 Yaris only cars with auto climate control had a pollen filter fitted upto the 2009, after the 2009 minor model change cars with aircon had pollen filters

I fail to see any reason why that could be seen as 'logical' Lee

My Mk2 is fitted for one so i'll pop one in - A cheap measure to prevent the air in the cabin being quite so chewey when stuck in traffic seems a sensible measure -as the designers of the mk1 and mk 3 would no doubt agree

Certainly if you spend much time in traffic or city I think it might be worth having one in. Our use rarely involves either, which is why I've not bothered about it.

I'm surprised they are less than a fiver. I bought a replacement for a Honda some years ago - an aftermarket one, not the Honda part - and it was about £15 IIRC. And the one for my Ford that was changed recently was about that too.

You can get third party pollen filters on eBay for around £5 upwards.

even if you fit a filter, it would be best not drive with the window open when the weather is warmer.

dont know whether my 59 plate Yaris has a pollen filter or not - and I dont think I will be looking for it either.

I don't spend much time stuck in traffic so perhaps that's what's made me sensitive to it - or at least sensitive enough to spend £4.97 on one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350722750737?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Shame it only does the lumpy stuff.
