Hi everyone, Hope someone can help? I pulled up in my 2001 yaris turned it off, went into the shops came back outside and it just wouldnt start?? no sighns of and coughs or splutters, just turns over and over, driving it before hand it was fine aswell, i did hit a hefty pothole but it drove fine for 10 mins after ( thats when i stopped at shops )

Any lights showing on the dash while it is turning over on the starter? Also worth looking for any dislocated lead under the bonnet if you hit a large pothole.

just normal turn over lights, someone suggest the fuel cut off switch?

check the small Earth Cable mounted to the Cylinder Head above the Gearbox, if it looks corroded (white or green) cut it off and fit a new piece of Cable/Wire with an Eye Terminal.

Even if this is not making a good and proper Earth, it will not bring any Warning Lights on or flag any Codes, hopefully this info helps, i have had this before

If it was the timing chain, your engine would not turn "over and over" without making some rather nasty mechanical noises into the bargain...

Sounds to me like:

fuel cutoff switch

or failed crankshaft sensor

or failed fuel pump.
