Hi everyone, i am Al Garcia, from Santiago, Chile, proud owner of a Toyota Avensis 2002, 2.0 Made in the UK. 76.000 KMS. (not miles) I had the unpleasant problem of shift lever cable disengaging from its anchor point at the Shift lever assembly. Fortunately, it was disengaged while at DRIVE, so the car could move forward ONLY, , but once I switched ignition off since I needed to move backwards, then I could not crank the engine ON again.. Well, I located my START Relay, on the engine room relay junction surface side, relay is B, located the contact points, inserted a wooden stick and used to act as a lever, pushing down smoothly, and started light a champ. And finally I was able to drive all the way to my favorite shop to get it fixed..
