First thoughts were 'I hate it', but certainly got used to it now, and actually quite like it. Appreciate the possible drawbacks PeteB mentions earlier, especially trying to clamber across from seat to seat, but the heart attack scenario is hopefully pretty remote at best, but if it happened - well, goodnight.......

What would annoy me more is the foreshortening of the centre armrest to enable easier access to another cupholder on the updated Gen 3 models.

My only wish is that the cubby bit at the bottom of the bridge was deeper to take more stuff.

Now I've finally wired my dash cam into the fuse box under the glove box on a timer unit though, its much tidier as I haven't got a fist full of wires sitting in there, and can easily see if the passengers heated seat has been left on or not.

"The Lexus CT200h which costs less than the Prius"

but more than the Auris hybrid that it is based on.

Yes but not by much.

Auris HSD £20,695

Lexus CT200h £20,995

Prius £21,995

Me personally? I'd get the Lexus for £300 extra. By the time you add metalic paint to the Auris you're into Lexus country. It's just a Badge, but it is meant to be better put together than the Auris and probably has higher residuals. Actually I'm certain it has.

All very good cars and personal preference comes into it, but the ct200h is a nice motor.

but the CT200h is based on the previous Auris & not the reworked current version so in theory you should compare prices to that (& then of course compare spec. levels, how much discount is available etc.). It may not be quite the easy comparison you think .

Of course as Lexus don't make estates were I in the market it would have to be an Auris. ;)

I was offered £1,000 for my ex taxi Prius. Doesn't mean that's what it's worth.

Just looked on autotrader and the cheapest, oldest Premier was on at £13k. The cheapest CT200h for sale is just shy of £10k. I do appreciate these are what they're asking and not what they'll probably get.

As someone said the ct200h is based on the old Auris HSD, then I guess we should compare their prices. A 2011 Auris HSD is for sale at £7,500.

Horses for courses I guess and some people will buy a car regardless of what it is because they like the dealer or the colour or the alloys. But you can still buy a premium badged Lexus for £300 more than the same sized and very similar specced Auris. Very strange pricing structure.

Hatchbacks are smaller, practical, smaller engines and easy to park.

Saloons normally come in 2.0 engines, 1.8 sometimes, longer and therefore harder to park and just feel too big. I'd stick to an Auris over a Prius (both hybrids). Saloons also have bad resale price whereas hatchbacks hold their value well even with high miles!

The luxury car brands tend to have more options that are extra that you might consider standard kit on a cheaper brand, maybe Lexus pricing works like that?
