Anti-Freeze

Definitely no to the coolant change - Toyota use their super long life coolant which only needs to be changed at 100,000 miles/10 years and then every 50,000/5 years.

Servicing should be every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever comes first - presumably it is now over three years old, but when did it have it's third service?

As regards oil, 0W-20 is Toyota's preferred oil - see http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/148358-engine-oil/

Toyota do say in their owners manuals that 5W-30 may be used, but should be changed for 0W-20 at the next service. If you do change the oil, make sure it meets API SL, SM or SN specs.

NB - Your question about coolant and oil seems to have disappeared

Thank you for the extensive reply. I withdrew the question as I realised I should not have posted in the introductory section of the website. Anyhow, my mind is at rest regarding the need to change the antifreeze. I'll take a view on the oil depending on my mileage in the next few months. Checked with Toyota earlier and their 0W_20 oil costs £62 !!!

Thanks again, good to know there are a host of similar oils at decent prices that will do the trick. Also, I see that when you buy a Toyota oil filter kit, you get a plastic spout to insert into the old oil filter to allow drainage. Nice.
