Cat' Converter For D4D

Hi

I asked on here as to what the problem might be re the loss of power to our D4D. I got a couple of great answers. We paid the garage £135 to diagnose this. They checked turbo and all was well there.

.

It turns out that is is the catalytic converter that is the cause and we need a new or second hand one.

Any ideas on where to get one anybody please? We can't go for new as we were quoted £850 just for the part and 4 hrs to fit at £52 per hour plus vat. Toyoya wanted even more which is understandable. We just don't have that sort of money any longer!

On a Breakersyard site we are asked as to what TRIM we have and there are 5 choices. i.e T3 D4D. How do we find that out? Or are all fitted with same cat' model?

Any pointers would be super.

Thanks

As far as I'm aware the D4D engine was the same across the trim levels.

have you looked inside your registration document? Mine tells the model name ie T Spirit in my case.

I would have thought giving fact it is a 1.4D and the the year may have been enough for identification, but maybe more is needed.

Cats are the same and are part of a complete exhaust system when fitted as Original Equipment.

The exhaust is all one piece with the exception of the back box.. which is a bolt on item: see http://tinyurl.com/o4xqfxy

I have looked on eBay and there are no parts for a d4d cat as far as I can see.

But I am sure one of the Fastfit chains can do it much cheaper. Try Kwikfit or ATS...for a start.

The cat is integral with the exhaust down pipe and mid section of the exhaust which is why it is so expensive...

edit: try ringing these: they are breaking one.. http://tinyurl.com/pjcwbjg
