Hi, I've had this issue for a long time and can't seem to figure out where the problem lies. As I'm driving along (past 50mph) there I quite a loud wind whistle coming from the driver side and when it's windy it is very loud. Is this a generic auris issue and is there a way to fix this?

Thanks

It isn't a generic issue - neither my 2009 Auris nor my 2012 Auris have had issues with wind noise.

Just a thought,is the windscreen original or has a replacement been fitted? A few years back with a Corolla, I had the windscreen replaced and experienced wind noise afterwards under certain conditions. The windscreen company hadn't applied enough sealant at one part - and after I took the car back and they applied more sealant so it was more of a flush fitting, that cured the wind noise.

I'm not sure, I've had the car for a year and personally haven't changed it. However there is evidence that the car has been damaged on the front right corner but I have no idea how extensive the damage was. I might try putting some tape around the windscreen to see if it will make any difference so I will know if it's at fault.

Usually on the windows there is the manufacturers trademark or similar etched into the glass usually in one of the lower corners. If the windscreen has a different trademark to the other windows, its been replaced.

I will certainly check that. Its just a bit annoying when you want to have a quiet relaxing drive and have to play the music loud so you don't hear the whistling lol

There was a earlier post about wind noise caused by the wing mirror.

I advise the poster to wrap clingfilm around the mirror and do a test.

If you get no noise you have found the cause.

If noise is still present you have ruled out the wing mirror.

Then get a friend to tape up the door gaps (with you in the car) see if you still get noise.

Its really time consuming but a slow process of elimination is the only way to find the cause.

Perhaps it could be the roof aerial, I've heard some owners of MKII Auris have this problem, unscrew it and go for a spin?
