We've just got our avensis back from the garage having originally had a blown head gasket it turned out it needed a new engine we had that put in but now the garage said that the head gasket has gone again and we can't do more than 20mph can anyone tell us were to locate the throttle cable to see if they disconnected it

Hi Yvonne,

It can be a D4 VVti which would make it a 2.0 1AZ-FSE which uses direct fuel injection ( D4 )

Your car does not have a throttle cable it is an electric setup with a throttle pedal switch and a motor operated throttle body. Its sounds like your car has gone into limp mode which is reducing throttle inputs to prevent damage to the engine, is the engine warning light on ? if so what is the fault code causing he light to come on ?

Its a d-4 vvti engine the code for it is 1az-fse

Dad said thank you for your comment he thinks that the garage must have done it to stop any damage to the engine
