Verso T180 Hates Cold Mornings

Recommended Posts

Hi all

i have a 2006 verso that hates cold mornings. Unless you drive it like miss daisy in the mornings from cold and keep the revs below 1400 for the firstfew miles, the car will go into limp home mode and you have to pull over and restart the car. This will cause the management light to come on with the traction control light and stability control. The car throws up p0093 code. I could do with some help with this as the garage say it could be one of many things. Could it be linked to the turbo kicking in as it will happen just as boost is coming in.

P0093 relates to " Large fuel leak detected" basically the car is seeing a significant drop in actual fuel pressure in comparison to the expected Fuel pressure. This can be caused by

Leaking fuel externally, check pipes, joints & seals for any fuel leaks

Leaking fuel internally, carry out fuel leak diagnostics with suitable diagnostic computer

Faulty suction control valve ( usually along with poor startability, prolonged cranking or stalling just after starting but not always ) see Toyota bulletin EG-0044T-0310-EN, requires a modified SCV valve and modified Engine ECU software ( fairly common issue search poor start in Auris, Avensis sections )

Faulty injectors ( usually along with knocking noise from engine ) see Toyota bulletin EG-0068T-0514, requires a set of modified injectors ( rare fault )

Cracked high pressure pump, see Toyota bulletin EG-0078T-0710, requires a new high pressure pump ( rare fault )

The car starts fine all the time and never stalls, this only happens when the car is stAring from cold. If it was an injector fault would it not manifest itself at any time?

If it only happens when cold then the most likely culprit a is faulty SCV that is not responding/reacting correctly when its cold, the modified SCV valve and software would be the fix for this

Where is the scv valve, and can it be cleaned ?
