Spiral Cable Sub Assembly

Hi all,

I've taken my steering wheel off on my 2007 Avensis, after a SRS airbag warning light had come on, due to getting something stuck, between the steering wheel and the steering column see (Airbag warning light Help) topic! After I had removed the wheel I had noticed that the Spiral Cable Sub Assembly had come apart see pictures! As I was taking out what I think has caused the airbag warning light to come on, the whole front face of the sub assembly has come completely away from the main housing and the cable has un ravelled. Is it easier to put back to together or is it better to get a new one, the reason I ask is because of the cost and its very fiddly.
