K my brakes squeal every now and then but recently after driving the car hard, and of course breaking hard, the squealing was still happening even when not breaking!

So now...when I drive normally I can hear the rear nearside breaks make a "sqeak-sqeak-sqeak-sqeak" with the rotation of the wheels. Its doing my nut in big time! It only happenes when I brake hard...then it lasts for a day then it goes away...until next time guh!

Also when I brake hard from a high speed theres a sound that I can only explain a "brake pad wear sound" kinda like a "whuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrr!". Needless to say the brakes performance has suffered.

Any diagnosis?

make sure your calipers aren't sticking in any way mate.

I agree with Jimlad....Sticky caliper. It's not releasing fully.

If this happens it could screw your discs mate.

Toyota calipers in general are known for sticking/seizing.

My rears were sticking slightly recently ( I got them replaced last year remember ), but I got the garage to strip them down, clean/lube them etc etc.

They're fine now. Better than having to buy new calipers and discs !

Yep had a front caliper seize on me 2 weeka after buying the car...you can gte a refurb kit from toyota for cheap enough...but as jim said there known for it...

I am hopefully gonna replace my calipers or even strip the current set down and refurb..clean etc myself...

It's easy to check .. get the wheels off .. move the caliper and check the 2 sliding pins actually move ..

One of mine had a broken dust boot, I got two re-con kits and replaced the boot .. added some lube and the caliber is now fine ..

Cost : about £20 .. and the feeling of a job well done ..

(and the ladies love a man who smells of gease :) )
