Broken off by Pheasant. Do I need to remove the whole door panel to replace it and if so how many fixings are there?

Thank you

There's a triangular black plastic panel inside the door immediately behind the door mirror. Lever this off with a flat-blade screwdriver (carefully!) or a plastic spatula; it's held in place by two nylon spring clips.

There's a couple of screws holding the mirror in place plus the electrical connection for the mirror motor & heater element. As you remove the screws, the electrical socket fitting should become easier to unplug.

Re-fitting is a reversal of removal, as they say.

Thank you for your responses it's good to know that the inner door trim does not need removing or that the mirror will not need coding to the car. But ouch £384.85

Has the entire mirror unit been trashed or is it just the housing that's damaged? Some of the on-line 4x4 accessory firms sell replacement housing covers that stick onto the existing housing with 3M tape. They're usually chrome so they come in pairs. I know that you can get them for LCs but not sure about 4.2s. Got to be worth some surfing as they're a hell of a lot cheaper than £384!

Parts-king may well better the price you have been quoted, certainly gave me a great quote for a replacement light cluster last year.
