Just phoned up my local dealer to get a part for my gearbox and according to their system my vehicle has a three speed Auto gearbox. Which is not much help when I'm after a part for the fifth gear on my manual gearbox! Would anybody please pm me with another Registration number for a RAV4.2D4D Circa 2002 Ta.

Can you not use the vin/chassis number rather than the reg. number.

Have you got the issue with 5th gear popping out ? I have the same problem but dont think its a job I could myself. Have got car booked into gearbox specialist after xmas.

Thanks steve li, Yeah good idea I'll try "the vin/chassis number rather than the reg. number", I fink the guy I spoke to may not be too aware of the Toyota parts systems. Perhaps there are only three gear shift forks /leavers shown on the parts lists, as each gear box might have more than one fork / leaver of the same part number.

I have an issue with 5th gear vibration which I understand can develop into jump out of 5th gear. I have taken off the gearbox extension housing cover- it's not too difficult if you are mechanically minded. I suspect the Fork/leaver is worn, it is loose in the groove of the syncro ring. As the fork is only made out of light alloy and runs against a hardened syncro ring so I suspect the softer material has worn out and hope if I change it before it results in other parts wearing, I will stop the problem getting worse.

Thanks Conrod for the Auto Trader idea & Reg No's!
