All this snow has resultimg in a large proportion of my engine covers falling off the bottom of my 59 pruis. Not impressed. Dealer tomorrow with the hope that there us no significant damage.

Mine fell off years ago. They're about £300 fitted for a new one!?!

I left mine off and since and there's no affect on economy.

I ripped my Engine cover off on a kerb on my previous Prius. Luckily it was the holding crommets that had given way the dealer got new crommets the same day and fixed it FOC.

Knowing how aerodynamically crafted the Prius under carriage is I wouldn't have said it makes no difference on economy, as I suspect it will be ever so slightly increasing vehicle drag, but would be temped to say its not going to make £300 of fuel difference over the cars life.

lol, that's what I meant.

But there is no noticeable effect on economy, though I'm sure it plays a part somewhere, and certainly not £300's worth :)

If you are lucky, all you will need are a few plastic push rivets which the dealer will be able to pop in but they could cost £1 each.

If you have lost the complete underpan, a new one is expensive. :(

But there is a service bulletin for it, so if it fell off because it was faulty, you might get a replacement.

The underpan has a flap which is famous for having a weak plastic hinge which snaps.

The flap then falls off.

If this has happened, Toyota can't fix it.

However, if you still have the flap and access to a car lift (so you can work underneath), you can make a new hinge mechanism with cable ties ;)

Sorted, I has picked up the 3 parts that fell off and had them replaced. new cost was £250 plus labour, resulted in £53 which was a bit less painful. However, I now know what to do if it happens again, thanks guys.

To make my perfect week, just backed the car into the garage and lost my passenger side mirror, total write-off, so looks like I will be paying some money out.

Probably at higher speeds.
