Hilux Timing Belt Replacement

Hi there, have just purchased a 2001 Hilux EX TD. It has 92K showing and the timing belt light is on so guess I need to replace it.

Any advice on how much this should cost ? I have been quoted £ 240+VAT for the labour with parts on top. Read somewhere that this is an easy job 2 hours max.

I would think that a repair shop would charge more like three hours to do the timing belt, however as your truck is 14 years old I would highly recommend having the water pump replaced at the same time as much of the labour required to change the water pump can be incorporated into the timing belt job. If you plan on keeping this vehicle for some time this will save you a lot of money and give you some solid peace of mind.

Hi, I have just sold my 2002 Hilux but changed the belt when I owned it. A straight forward job. I read the information on the web and it all made sense.

Tried to copy you the URL but it doesn't let me.

Good luck, Max34

If it's any help we owned a Hiace years ago and the T Belt light came on at 50k miles but went back off at 100k.

The price mechanic has given you is very cheap, i'd take the leap.
