Blanking Egr On T270 Avensis 2.2 By Recirculating Turbo Air

Hi Guys,

I've been experimenting with various methods of EGR blanking over the past six months. As already established by the forum, simply fitting a sandwich plate to blank-off the EGR won't work on the 2009+ T270 Avensis because the pressure sensors either side of the EGR valve see this as a blocked valve and throw a MIL.

Drilling clearance holes through the plate doesn't fool the system, all the way up to 10mm, at which point the whole exercise becomes pointless anyway.

The Lexus chaps (which also uses the same 2AD-FTV) seem to have solved this problem by connecting the exhaust side of the EGR value to a feed of pressurised turbo air, resulting in the ECU being happy with the pressure differential at the value.

Has anyone tried this on an Avensis? I've tried giving the EGR a feed of atmospheric pressure air and this works well with no MIL being thrown, but in high boost conditions with the EGR valve open, the backward flow allows small deposits of soot and crankcase oil to escape in to the engine bay, so not a long term solution.
