Filthy Car

Hi I recently bought a black 60 plate T27 avensis estate, i had a grey avensis saloon before

Sorry for the total newbie question

Im finding that whenever i wash the car, its literally filthy within a week (perhaps cos its black), so my question, basic as it may seem, do Halfords sell any wax or similar that i can apply that will stop the dirt from sticking so much? its really doing me head in

We had two black cars in the past - a metallic black Micra and a pearlescent black Honda Civic. Never again. Black shows every little nick and scratch.

When I had a black car it was really good, for me it would never show scratches and it had a tonne of dents everywhere yet they could not be seen? Now I have a white car and regret it, shows every single stone chip (i never knew what a stone chip was until I had a white car as black never showed it), dents and scratches are now the worse.

There isn't much you can do in terms of stopping dust and dirt accumulating on the car, but a good wax or sealant will stop it sticking to the car so it's much easier to rinse it off. Even the rain can help wash off the worst of it :)

Autoglym are supposed to be a good quality brand. Expensive, but I'd look at trying their products.

White cars are just as bad, but its winter and roads are being gritted so often at the moment its hard to keep them clean longer than a week. I just continue with a wash once a month just to keep the alloys clean.
