How Much Do You Think Mines Worth?

Its getting quite expensive running this car! Just wondered if i was to sell it, what you think i should ask???

MR2 Black import decalired manufactured '92

85,000miles

UK speedo (reads to 160mph)

Reconditioned original 15" alloys and brand new tyres all round

K&N induction kit

New Clutch

New Cambelt

Momo Champion Steering Wheel

TRD short shift gear lever conversion

Sony head unit (cant remember what, plays mp3's etc)

Front clear sidelights - originals are also available.

Hard Boot liner

Inside, the car is immaculate outside isnt too bad either, it has been scratched on the front nearside wing which is the worst thing about the car.

There is also windnoise which comes from the front drivers side window.

The rear aerial is also random whether it decides to come down or not, so i just keep it up!

If i was to keep it, i know i would spend more getting the suspension renewed too, and get that scratch sorted. The main thing that bugs me is that i travel to and from work 6 times a week now, so its crippling me in petrol. I probably wont get rid now! But any ideas on value?

I would offer you £2k - 2.2k if that helps any :)

Its not a T-Bar bibbs, Does anyone recommend anywhere in particular to advertise cars for sale? Would E-Bay be good for example? or is the old Ad-mag a better option???

Erm .. eBay seems the best if can put up with the non-payers . .

otherwise Autotraider ..

1992 MR2s vary in price from £850 for a nail to £6000 for an immaculate example. £2.5 k is taking the p*ss a bit. I'd say for a car with the mileage and condition in the description you would probably get £3.5 to £4k without too much trouble.

Got to remember it's an old car? You are having a laff...It's an MR2, and not in the same class as an old 92 Ford or similar. We're talking sought after, collectible cars here. Check out Autotrader and look at what the cars are going for on there. That will give you a good idea of what they will go for.

Stef.. I would expect a t-bar turbo for £4000.

I would advertise the car for £3000 and drop to £2750 if you have to haggle.

id have to agree with a minimum of £3000 mate, you could blag £3500 if youre willing to wait longer

Thanks all for your help!

I would say that with the age, mileage and all the other info given, about £3.2 but will to drop to £3k

I sold my absolute Mint Rev3 with low mileage and full main dealer history for £4 :( But I needed a quick sale. The buyer got the bargain of a life time. I miss it :crybaby:

Everyone on here talk about how they miss their MR2's.. I'm never selling mine... never.

I know I will one day.. too many other tempting cars out there.

My grand kids are gonna help me polish my MR2 in years to come!

Right, im definately keeping it.....!

However, i need to sort this wind noise problem out.

I know the noise comes in from the triangluar area that holds the drivers side mirror on.

I've already tried the solutions given (tape up holes etc) and hat hasnt helped. So, does this sound crazy? and would it work?

*Get another black drivers door, with electric mirrors, and fit that instead.???

I would have to make sure it has the same material on the inside as my current one. But would the central locking still work correctly if i changed the door over? and how easy are barrels to swap over?

Do you reckon this could be done via rogue/rev6???

HELLLLLPPPPP MMEEEEEEE :wacko::wacko:

get some expanding foam and squirt it inside and then clean up the excess ..

Posted

Bibbs, do you mean on the inside side of the car? Unfortunately i've buggered the heads up on the screws so i physically cant take off the wing mirror now, only way would be to drill out the screws....I can only fill the inside bit with foam now.

IF thats what you meant, is there any foam in particular to go for?

Cheers again...

On the inside .. remove the tweeter covers and fill the area behind with the stuff ..

I dunno what sort, I've just learned to live with it .. just heard that someone solved their problem this way ..

Posted

you mean you're a fellow wind noise specialist too??? I know Dame mentioned it - It goes away if i put my hand over that tweeter cover - if only i could get it to sound like that!

I will fill it tomorrow straight after MOTO GP! then update you all!

I don't notice it any more .. it gets drowned ouot by exhaust and now tunes :)
