Hi !

I am new here so I would say hello to everyone :) I have got a Celica 2002 VVTi 7 generation. Today engine check light came on and also I've noticed that on a warm engine , rpms are in the range of 500-650 and I can feel slight vibration. No starting problems, car was serviced 2 weeks ago. I have not induction kit. What can cause this problem?

I too would really like to get a reply to this as I'm having the same. Is that the 1.6 VVTi you have? or 1.8? Mine is the 3ZZ-FE 1.6, but it's a Corolla I have. My guess so far has been the intake manifold gasket needing replaced (leaking in air), adding air to the mix.

1.8 vvti , another symptom is to accelerate at 2nd gear, car doesn't accelerate smoothly but you can sense the slight jerking. I bought this car 3 weeks ago. It is serious fault ?

Process of elimination.?

Plugs....Coil pack....fuel filter...maybe a MAF clean.?...or a code read might just point you in the direction of any faults.

Interestingly, mine's exhibiting the same behaviours as you describe. The fault code I keep getting is "P0420 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)", which from what I've heard before can be ignored (I've just been resetting the code) but I have noticed more hesitation recently and poor idle sometimes when warm.

It passed an MOT less than a week ago so the cat is still doing its job well enough it would seem but with the hesitation, maybe it really does need a new cat!
