hi I have a Peugeot 107 that has a problem and I wondered if any of you could maybe help it starts runs for about 2 seconds then cuts out. it has been to a local garage and been on there diagnostics systems two of them and it will not communicate with either one also all dash lights work as normal with engine check light going out for the two seconds it runs . also the fuel pump kicks in when you start it . and it doesn't matter what you do with the throttle it just revs to just under two thousand when you start it then dies. any help or advice much appreciated . thanks

Maybe alternator?

what engine?

sorry 1.0l petrol don't think its the alternator as had the Battery off the car and did a full charge so if that was faulty surely the car would of ran till Battery drained?

Possible vacuum pipe has split/come off around the inlet manifold, have a push n pull ( engine not running ) see if you can spot anything.

Also any wiring plugs loose , and air filter pipework to manifold .

I have the exact same problem with my Aygo (same engine – 1.0l petrol)

Engine starts and dies after a second or two. After that I have to wait a couple of minutes to give it another try, otherwise I just hear the starter going off.

OP, how did you fix it?

I have seen a few instances of this and there have been two possible causes:

1. A faulty ignition switch that allows the key to rotate too far so as you crank the key the car momentarily fires then stalls, but it continues to crank but not start, this requires a modified ignition barrel, housing and switch assembly.

2 The car starts and stalls almost immediately but does not continue to crank as above, the immobilizer ECU has failed, as thed car cranks and fires the immobilizer ECU is supposed to read the ignition key and signal the engine ECU that all is OK if it is faulty then the Engine ECU does not get the OK signal and shuts down the ignition as it believes the car is being started without the correct key. This requires a new immobilizer ECU coded into the car.

Thanks for the suggestions. Here's what bill107 said, in case anyone's having the same problem:

hi there tried a couple of things but in the end it ended up being camshaft sensor after changing that and the crankshaft sensor hope this helps

my pug 107 starts and cuts out after a few seconds any suggestions please on what i should try to get the Peugeot going again. Thank you in advance

Crank sensors usually fail when hot. Should start find from cold thought. They aren't much to buy and usually one bolt holds them in place. Think it's also linked to the throttle body.....cheaper to get one from a motor factors.

My toyota Aygo 2008 model starts and immediately cuts off within some seconds, can anyone help me with what could be the problem.

Possible immobiliser problem, have you tried the other key?

Possible accidental refuel with diesel?

The first thing I would try is unplug the mass airflow sensor, then try and start the engine. If the engine starts and runs, reconnect the sensor to see if he engine stalls. Got to try something.
