Interior Switch Lights

Hi all,

Just a quick question, I have folding mirrors on my Prius TSpirit 2013 and during the day it's no problem to find the push button to activate them, but at night I cant see the button at all. The question is should this button be illuminated, if so there is a problem with mine and as it is going in for it's second service tomorrow I will mention it.

Thanks for any help.

As far as I'm aware the button to operate the power folding on the mirrors isn't illuminated.

What I do is push it to fold them, turn car off, and then push it again before exiting the car, then when I return and power up the car they automatically fold out.

I think the OP means he can't find the button to fold them as the interior is in darkness before you turn the car off.

You would have to turn on the interior lights, push the button to fold the mirrors, turn off the interior lights, turn off the car, the interior lights come on themselves, then push the button again so they will unfold when the car is started next time.

Trust Toyota to do things the easy way.......

I really can't see the issue though, I can't even remember if mine lights or not, and for the simple reason I don't look for it, its been ergonomically designed to be used by touch, as are a lot of car interiors. Its the button which is square, smaller than the rest and sticks out the furthest in comparison to the mirror controls.

I do it so often that my muscle-memory has developed to the point that I find it without looking. There are good positional clues - it's the last switch in row.

Having said all of that I have no idea what weird logic Toyota have used in deciding which switches to illuminate or not.

Because I have used the folding mirror switch so often I can go straight to it. I think as you get used to using it you will not have difficulty finding it in the dark. I have to fold the mirrors every time I move the car in and out of the garage to avoid damaging the mirrors.

Is it possible to set the car, to fold its mirrors when locking, and unfold them when unlocking....seems sensible to me, could save damage when parked.
