Hi folks,

Wondering could you help me with your knowledge on the forum.I recently bought a 2003 Rav4 D4d. Unknown to me the vsv pipe to the turbo was disconnected when I test drove it, seemed a tad sluggish as I'd owned one before but it hadn't been serviced so I put it down to that, on test drive no Mil light and even had taken my obd to check for codes, none present. A few days later during service of fuel filter, air filter, oil filter etc I noticed the vsv disconnected from the turbo, reconnected and now drives horrendously hesitant in every gear at around 2-3k revs. I cleaned the egr, gave the vsv the WD40 treatment and so far have had BG244 and archoil6600 through her. When I disconnected the vsv to turbo pipe when engine running the air is passing through ok, when disconnected and run the car it drives brilliantly. Is it safe to drive for a good while until I have the funds to purchase a new turbo? Will doing this damage the engine? In fairness the turbo sounds rough, very loud whistle constantly when you rev through every gear, have also had the actuator off and wd40'd the arm which moves fairly easily and no sticky points (Looks like it has possibly been replaced at some point, also noted oil sitting when I took the air intake pipe off to inspect. Your help would be much appreciated, cheers
