Help! Anti-Roll Bar 2004 Rav4 Xt3 D-4D

Hi all,

I am new to the site, apologies if I'm posting in the wrong section!

I'm currently in disputes with a garage and wondered if any of you knew if it is possible to replace the rear springs without removing the anti roll bar?

The reason for this is that I had the rear springs replaced recently. Shortly after, I took the car back to the same garage for it's MOT which failed because the anti roll bar had not been re-fitted correctly and was rubbing and cutting into the rear brake hoses.

I'm trying to figure out if this is the fault of the garage who did the original work when they replaced the springs.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Ben

Hi mate I changed both my rear springs just by un doing bottom shock bolt and removing the small drop link, then lowered the wheel hub whilst lifting body of car slightly and spring came out. No need to remove anti roll bar just the drop links.

Thanks Phil,

But would it not be easier for a garage to take the anti roll bar off if they had a ramp and were changing them both at the same time?

This is Kwikfit by the way... I'm just trying to establish if they put the anti roll bar on wrong when they reassembled...

Cheers,

Ben

Personally you don't need to touch the anti roll bar but if they not sure then it's likely they did disconnect it but your word against theirs which will be hard to prove I reckon mate. I wouldn't touch places like kwickfit , I would find a good independent toyota garage if you're not sure on doing it yourself. Hope you have some luck getting it sorted.

Ok thanks for the info Phil. They want me to take it back tomorrow so they can put it on a ramp again to see if it's something they would have done. The fact that they don't know/can't remember doesn't fill me with confidence.

The other argument is that if they had seen that this was wrong when they changed the springs, why didn't they mention it then? Just seems too coincidental, that and the fact that I noticed it 'knocking' straight away whenever you hit a bump only after it had been to the garage....
