Possible Electrical Issue

Hi all

I had a breakdown recently in my 57 plate Avensis tourer. Turns out it was the fuel filter which was replaced and it's now running fine.

However, since the repair (carried out at the garage) I seem to be having intermittent electrical issues. when I turn the left indicator on, it flashes real fast as if to indicate a bulb is out. On checking, the rear indicator wasn't working. However, before I could order a new bulb, it started again. It now keeps alternating between working normally or flashing fast with no rear indicator.

Then yesterday the automatic headlights didn't come on (although worked fine when turned on manually) and today they work again.

Could they have knocked something at the garage in the process of changing the fuel filter? Is there anything I can check as a quick attempt before recontacting the garage and the hassle of having to take the car back?

Thanks

The bulb needs changing - the filament could be making/breaking causing the intermittent behaviour. Either that or the connection on the bulb holder needs cleaning.

The auto headlights operate from the module on the windscreen in front of the rear view mirror. If faulty the intermittent (rain sensitive) wipers will also perform erratically. So you could check those which would help identify the fault.

If you want proper control over the intermittent wiper control disconnect the wiring in the module and live without the auto lights. I know which I prefer.

Either way, I cannot see that the problems have anything to do with the filter replacement.

Good luck.
