I'm having trouble changing down into 3rd and 4th in my Aygo when moving. (2007 petrol)

Changing up is fine and If I want to go down from 5th I can generally get it into 3rd/4th if I move the gearstick into the 2nd gear position first before then trying 3rd/4th (all with the clutch down). This doesn't make for speedy driving though as it takes too long and I loose any of the precious speed I might have had!

It is fine when stationary or stopped. I can move through everything perfectly.

Any ideas what I need to look at here? How are the 2 gear linkage cables split in terms of function - is this likely to be adjustment or wear on one of them or is it more likely to be a gearbox/clutch fault?

The car now has 105k miles and I'm not sure it has ever had a clutch. I have owned it since 75k and have records from the PO who had it from 20k-75k
