Aftermarket Central Locking Kit For 3-Door Mk1 Yaris

Hi,

A bit out of my area of expertise here, but I have a base model 2004 Yaris T2 and feel it'd really benefit from central locking. Seen a few out there but I have 2 main things I insist on with an aftermarket kit:

  • I don't want a remote/alarm system because it'd inevitably come with an crappy-looking aftermarket fob, which I hate the look of
  • I'd like it to unlock/lock the boot too

So basically I'd like a kit that unlocks/locks the passenger door and boot when I unlock/lock the driver's door- simple enough, right?

Anyone got any experience of this? Any advice is much appreciated!

Sell your car and buy one with central locking already installed seems the most logical option. And easiest. And probably cheapest..

Seeing as I got the car for £1000 and a central locking kit is about £15, I doubt buying a whole new car would be the best idea.

If you want to do it, easiest to use OE parts.

New door locks for passenger, driver and boot Plus motors and all linkages. New wiring may be needed from motors to dashboard if not on existing loom. Plus controller and etc.

I would not undertake such a major job on an old car.

Although the kit may be cheap, it'll be offset by the difficulty of the job.

You'll need to run the wiring looms through all the doors and the boot and this is a very fiddly job. i bet Murphy's Law says some of the bits you need to get access to will be in some really awkward place like behind the side impact bars or something too

I was contemplating retrofitting electric windows into the rear doors of my car but after looking at how much of a PITA it would be to get the regulator inside the door and route the wiring loom to the front I decided I CBA'd
