Hi i'm a new member so hope this gets through.

I have purchased a genuine ipod integration kit which has no fitting instructions. I have researched the removal of the radio and am confident i can complete the fitting.

My problem is the lead sent with the kit . It has a male connector one end and this splits into two cables one having a female connector and the other a male connector.

Now i'm guessing having not seen the back of my radio yet that the male connection into the radio goes into my leads female connector the leads male connector goes into the radio and the remaining male connector on my lead goes into the new ipod unit. Am I making any sense !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can any one advise please.

Thanks

Hi Pete,

What is the make of the ipod intigration kit? Most companies will have the manual online in pdf format.

From your description, your kit is similar to my Connects2 iconnect usb, which went between my Sony head unit and the cd changer. This may be the reason for female/male connections.

Hi Konrad

It is a genuine toyota kit. Fitted it today and all seems to work . HAPPY DAYS. The female connector was not required my guess is its probably to plug the cd changer in if that port wasn't free.

Thanks any way

Hi Pete,

Glad it all works.

It seems my guess regarding the male/female connector and the unit as a through put for the CD changer is correct.

The best thing is that you installed the unit to see if it worked.

I was not aware that Toyota did a genuine ipod connector for and Avensis of your year. I knew of the aftermarket companies like connects2 and Xcarlink.

And found a genuine adaptor kit - http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/132274-installing-ipodusb-adapter-on-b9017-satnavhdd-head-unit/

Now others will be aware too!
