Recently purchased MR2 mk 3 Roadster Y reg -

When steering is in the full lock position and car is in motion, either forwards or in reverse

a cruching noise can be heard originating from the from the front wheel area.

Problem is worse when the weather is cold. This is also not an isolated incident as I am aware of

another owner who is experiencing the same problem.

Does anyone have any ideas or experienced similar problem.

Thanks, Daz

I had a similar problem to this but it was more like a knocking noise, have you had the wheels off at all?

Mine was caused by some grease monkey who bent the back plate whilst putting the wheels back on after i had them balanced.

I doubt you've got the same problem. Maybe just air lock in power steering system. Does it sound like a high pitched squeak? Simple fix. Mine does it sometimes when it's cold weather, and you move off from stationary with full lock on.

ok

Crunching noise either CV joint or the Gator around the CV joint is worn or just stiff

The knocking noise is the CV joint gone.

Have your dealer check and/or replace the strut top bushings - warranty item. It's a known problem. I believe there is TSB.
