Transferring A Bike Rack 'tow Hitch' From Petrol Yaris To Hybr

Hello knowledgeable people, I wonder if any of you can help me with this?

I am currently waiting to take delivery of a Yaris hybrid to replace my 2013 petrol model. I have got a tow hitch on my current car, purely for a bike rack and I want to transfer it to the hybrid. I know you can't tow anything on a hybrid but it would only be used to transport bikes, which I believe is ok.

I have been told by the garage that it isn't possible to transfer the tow hitch because the drillings are in different positions and I'll have to pay £800 for a new one! I already have the rack so even if I needed a new hitch to be fitted, I can't see it costing that much and it doesn't leave me with much confidence in what they are telling me.

Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer the hitch from a 2013 Yaris Trend to a 2015 hybrid Yaris?

Thanks for reading.

Good question. You wouldn't want to drill a hole through the HV Battery.

Does anyone know or can help the OP?

I can't see the issue as to the best of my knowledge the HV Battery in the Yaris is under the rear seat and not in the boot? Although I could be wrong.

Had a look at the Witter website earlier, and they are currently developing a towbar for the post-facelift Yaris (mid 2014 onwards), whereas they do a towbar and cycle carrier for the 2011-2014 Yaris/Yaris Hybrid. So presumably the fitting is different.

Thanks so far all.

What you've found does seem to support a different fitting, I agree Mike - thanks. That's a bit disappointing really but I'll just have to try and haggle on the price and see if I can get the dealer to move from the £800 quoted just to fit a tow hook as I've got all the paraphernalia already. This car malarkey ain't half expensive - good job my mpg will be getting better as well as looking after the polar bears :-)

Have a look at the Witter site -

Think I would send them an e-mail to say that you're getting a 2015 Yaris and understand that they are currently developing a tow bar to fit the post 2014 Yaris. Ask when they're likely to have their towbar ready for market - e-mail: sales@witter-towbars.co.uk

That's brilliant, I'll take a look at that. Thanks very much Mike.
